Happy holidays !

Today marked the first day of Christmas/New Year holidays! We had such a great day, starting with the night before of just hanging out with the kids and R and building our Gingerbread village together.

Girls had so much fun decorating the houses and also stealing a gummy or two! We will bring them over to Christmas lunch at my sister’s tomorrow. It was supposed to be at ah ma’s but her air con unit broke down and we can’t get it replaced till after Christmas! Luck would have it that we are going to have a horrendous heatwave this Christmas, it’s going to be 42 degrees tomorrow 😳😳😳.

Girls in the city

My little girls like taking photos unlike their mummy.

Even though it was hot out, we still ventured into the city because we had to pick up R’s passport. It was still a fun day out, we do like these family outings so much because we don’t get to spend much quality time together since I’ve been working so much.

I can’t believe I didn’t even write about my work! After such gruelling long years, we succeeded! 22 December 2021 the bill received Royal Assent. 14 December 2021, it was passed and I’ll never forget that surreal night which ended with three of us somehow sitting at C’s apartment, looking out at his city view past midnight after a long night in Parliament. There’s so much to be said about these past few years and I swear we are going to suffer from PTSD from this project for a long time to come. But I also learnt a lot about myself and others and I’m looking forward to what comes next. I’m ready to move to the next phase in my career, with one that hopefully has much better work life balance.

We went to Rockingham for a long weekend getaway and it was lovely and just what I needed. I didn’t really break away from work, but I knew I was slowly letting go. This Christmas holiday I will truly try to just let go and move on.

My favourite part of the apartment was the view, the Christmas lights were so pretty at night and I could sit there at the couch just staring out all night.

By day there was the ocean view, which was also really lovely. The girls had such a good time. I hope this new Covid scare in Perth doesn’t escalate, it will be really sad if we can’t go to Busselton in January ! We are so looking forward to it/

The kids enjoy the beach so much and I do too. Even though I don’t enjoy the aftermath of sand all over the apartment floor that much.

Sigh again I feel my girls are growing up too quickly. I don’t want them to lose their innocence and pure hearts so quickly. I find the simple pleasures in life through their eyes and wish they could stay young forever/

Christmas 2021

Girls are fast asleep and it’s past midnight so it’s Christmas Day now. I’ve done my mummy/Santa duties and eaten my cookie. I hope they love their presents but I know they will because they are sweet like that.

Merry Christmas folks, I’m sure a better year is ahead for all of us.
