I wonder whether other working mums feel the same.
Saitaoha’s class had a school assembly performance today and both R and I attended. Whilst other mum seemed really excited and happy watching their kids perform, I couldn’t help but think how much I’ve failed my child by not always being there for her. She was so happy that I was going to watch her performance and send her to school.
I am not around her as much as I should be, I should be paying a lot more attention on helping her develop, grow confidence and nurture her talents. Will I live to regret this ? I know I’m trying my best but my best is really not good enough. Sigh. Luckily it is a Friday today.
We survived gastro but R has now caught the bug 😪! Luckily he didn’t have it over the weekend and we were able to bring the kids to watch the very hungry caterpillar show at the State Theatre. The show was actually pretty good and the kids enjoyed it a lot.
Dinosaur rawrrrr!
We had a fun long weekend and went to Yee yee’s house two nights in a row to play with their new Nintendo Switch. I’m the least gamer person out of us siblings but it was actually very fun. I can’t see myself playing it for more than two days though, that’s why I’ve never been into video games or anything like that. I’m all thumbs and so bad at coordination, I only like watching others play but don’t really like playing myself.

It was nice to spend time in the kitchen, leisurely baking. I managed to cook and bake quite a bit this long weekend.
Orange chiffon cake
Haven’t baked a chiffon cake in a while. I have a few trusty bakes, chiffon cake is one of them, I also like making honeycomb cake, lemon syrup cake and traditional butter cake. Hmm having made sticky date pudding in a while, I wonder whether I’ll get to do it the coming weekend ?
Sausage rolls
Haven’t baked sausage rolls for a while too ! It was nice to be able to give some baked goods to the neighbour after a long while.
It was a much needed long weekend and I really appreciated not having to think about work for a little while. I wish we had more long weekends but I think this is the last one for a while sigh …
Ah well at least this was a great one, I feel recharged to face the rest of June now!
We managed to celebrate R’s birthday ! It was a small, intimate celebration, just had a yummy bowl of birthday chicken noodle soup cooked by ah ma, a cute little cake that the kids picked out for their papa, a quick bday song singing session and that was it.

But we really couldn’t ask for more, Saitaoha finally started eating after a week of gastro, she was in a cheery mood and Saitaomei was happy too that everyone seemed cheery after a torrid bout of gastro that ripped through the household.
I was happy because it felt like ages since I’ve even been out of the house, even being at ah ma’s house felt so warm and cozy.
I haven’t been over to ah ma’s much because of my fractured foot, crazy work and then this gastro. I’m so thankful that despite being a pretty poor daughter and mummy, I am still well loved and taken care of by my parents and family. Sigh. It’s been a rough May so hopefully June picks up.
