The start of our family trip which feels like a long time ago now. I think the first few days are always the best, full of anticipation and excitement. We’ve been planning for this family trip for a long time, lots of tensed discussion,l and final compromise.
Our first meal in Shanghai was 小杨生煎, one of the popular chains and we could see why, the 生煎包 was juicy and really tasty. We went back to 小杨 a couple more times during our trip.
Hehe happy kids. I’m not sure that they were particularly excited about Shanghai food, it was probably happiness from finally being in Shanghai and being around the entire family.
Even though we should probably have retired for the night after a day of flights, we were still eager to check out Nanjing Pedestrian Street so we did.
人山人海, that’s China for you. I wonder how the Chinese feel when they come to places like Perth where there’s hardly anyone on the streets.
The beautiful Bund skyline, or ‘Boon’ as our tour guide called it. It was a long walk to check out the ‘Boon’ and I was getting worried about my father’s feet.
Time to call it a night but not before dessert of 冰糖葫芦， the kids were a big fan and even the adults my sisters loved it, we had these at least three times during the trip.
And that was the end of Day 1, Shanghai was every bit as exciting and beautiful as it promised to be. The family trip was off to a good start.
