Foochow Ang Chow Harvest

Remember this post? I was actually making Foochow Ang Chow (foochow red rice wine). It was my first time making my own wine, I’m not even  a fan of ang chow in Kuching but this is a must ingredient for confinement food so I thought I would give it a go.

It wasn’t easy remembering to stir the pot every three days, R had to keep reminding me. For the first week we thought it was a failure, but surprisingly the smell of the wine got sweeter and more fragrant as the weeks went by.

Finally time to harvest!

2 bottles of ang chow ! We won’t know whether it’s a success or not till I’ve tried cooking it either with mee sua or foochow red wine chicken. Maybe this weekend?? Wish me luck!

    Wow I didn’t know ang chew was actually that red! Haha.

    might be because mine is a failure, I’m not sure whether it’s suppose to be this red ..
