Xinlong’s 25th birthday beer bash

It started off innocently enough.

It was a cold day so I happily wore the scarf Jan knitted for me (many years ago) out. It’s in my favourite blue colour and very warm.

First photo of Xianzhang and Jo in my blog! They both like being in photos so will be regular features on this blog me thinks.

Xinlong was heading off to work and only returning around midnight. So we arranged to have a drinking and gaming session with him when he returned, but first stopped by Manise for an early dinner. Manise is Xinlong’s favourite eating hole too. He is perhaps the second person next to Jo who is crazy about empek empek, come to think of it,  they like a lot of the same food.

Us gathering at Xinlong’s new place (he’s sharing with WuiHao, Xinchen, Eugene and Xianzhang) around 11pm. Everyone was playing Mario Kart on Brio’s Gamecube.

The drinks for the night. We chipped in for a whole carton of Xinlong’s favourite Crown lager. It didn’t last long.

Xinlong’s cake bought by Richard from Cheesecake shop, it was a tiramisu torte, very nice too.

We switched off all the lights and waited for Xinlong’s car to drive in. Everyone hid in the living room and kitchen, Xinlong’s first words when he opened the door was  ‘Eh, mei you wan game ah?’ (not playing games?). The designated cake bearer Din Yaw was a bit taken aback at first but after a long 2 seconds, he broke into song ‘Haaapy birthday to you …’ and we all went along.

Making a wish and cutting the cake.

Richard was really sweet and prepared birthday noodles with rice wine chicken soup for Xinlong’s birthday. Really tasty stuff with fish maw and all. He even prepared chopped scallions and fried onions, I was impressed.

Happy Xinlong digging into his bowl of birthday noodles. After that everyone just zoomed in and had noodles as well even though it wasn’t their birthdays, haha.

Then the drinking games started. I tell you, after that night’s drinking session, I really loathe beer with a vengeance. Never again. I didn’t get drunk or anything, but it made me really uncomfortable, bloated and bubbly. Urk.

Beer laden red faced Bryan and Adrian.

It was a fantastic night and Xinlong really had lots of fun bossing us around and making all his friends drink. Everything revolved around the birthday boy.

By the end of the night (or should I say morning because this went on till 4am!) the birthday boy was suitably drunk and happy.

Group photo! 生日快乐 Xinlong, hope it was great one, we had lots of fun celebrating your birthday but next time not so much beer ok?!
